Prep tennis: Meadowdale dominates 3A District Meet!

MOUNT VERNON — Meadowdale captured both the singles and doubles championships Wednesday on the final day of the Northwest 3A District boys tennis tournament.

Meadowdale’s Alex Casper defeated Brendan Soelling of Everett 7-6, 6-1 to claim the singles title, and the Mavericks’ Scott Bohmke and Grant Lovell beat Glacier Peak’s Kyle Bjornethun and Eric Impola 6-4, 7-5 in the doubles final.

Meadowdale won the team title with 18 points. Glacier Peak and Everett tied for second with 11.

After losing to Casper, Soelling rebounded to defeat teammate Dan Snyder 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 to collect the district’s second and final singles berth in next spring’s state tournament.

The second state doubles entry went to Dylan Mozlowski and Jake Davis of Glacier Peak. They beat Bjornethun and Impola in the second-place match.

The 2011 Class 3A boys state tennis tournament is scheduled for May 27-28 in Kennewick.
